Fantasy Islands' 2020 Development Plan
What's coming in 2020 to Fantasy Islands?
There seem to be 3 areas marked for development in 2020, one less than in 2019. Both Development B and Development C seem to be large-scale developments, whereas Development A seems to be relatively small. In this article we will run through each development and what it could potentially be.
Development A:
Development A appears to be off the coast of Rum Cove. The size of the development is quite small, so it could be an expansion to the island, or a new ride / coaster. This area currently contains Wave Rider, and used to be occupied by The Lighthouse Slide - it is unknown if the building for The Lighthouse Slide will be staying, if Wave Rider will still be at the park after the development, or if there will be some work done to Wave Rider. It is pretty clear from its proximity to Rum Cove, however, that no matter what this development is, it is likely to be pirate themed.
Development B:
Development B is located in The Crypts, and so is likely to be a Hobbiton-style revamp of the area. However, it is plausible that the area could get a new main attraction in this development, or it could be completely rethemed, similar to Xanerth in August of last year. It is interesting to see that the development does not include Nyctophobia: Twilight, so if the area was to be rethemed then it would either have to be something similar to the current Nyctophobia theme, or Nyctophobia: Twilight would have to be divided off from the rest of the area.
Development C:
Development C is the most exciting of the three earmarked areas, as it is not located on an island that already exists - it would likely have to be accessible only by a bridge from Rum Cove. It is a very large expansion, judging by the size of the area that has been marked out, and so it is likely to be the main addition for the year. If it comes at a similar time to Xanerth did in 2019, then teasers for the area should start around mid-May, with further details coming in the Summer. If this is an entirely new area, then it is unclear what the theme would potentially be.
