Public Statement - 15/11/20
Unfortunately, we have had to close our servers for the time being. At 4:00pm on the 15th November, we discovered that our Fantasy Islands server had been majorly griefed. This caused significant damage to the entrance and Hotel areas, and also to Xanerth.
As such, we have closed both of our servers for the time being, whilst we assess and repair the damage and upgrade our server security. We are committed to providing everyone with the best possible experience and we will not let this stop us from doing what we love. Unfortunately, we will have to make a number of changes to our planned openings - Xanerth will be delayed indefinitely, and at this time we cannot say how long our upgrades will take.
In regards to reopening, we are hoping to be able to reopen our Alton Towers PE server on the 21st of November, however this may be subject to change. We do not have an expected opening date for our Fantasy Islands server, and will confirm one once we assess the damage caused.
Thank you to everyone who has provided us with support and we hope to be able to return to normal operations soon!
Update 16/11/20:
Thank you for all of the words of support as we begin work on rebuilding Fantasy Islands. The majority of the damage is to the entrance & hotel, which we are hoping to have rebuilt before the server reopens. We have made the decision to rebuild the damaged areas as close to the originals as we can, so as to preserve their history & authenticity.
After assessing the damage, we are now hoping to be able to reopen the park by the week beginning 23rd November at the latest. Unfortunately, some previously open rides were badly damaged, and so will likely not be reopening with the initial park reopening. The rides are:
Gold Rush - damage to Gold Rush is minimal, and so we are hoping to be able to reopen it within a week or two of the server's reopening.
Rampage - Unfortunately, a large amount of damage was done to the station building for Rampage, and so it will not be able to reopen for the foreseeable future. We are currently aiming to rebuild it and include Rampage in the opening of Xanerth (please note that this no longer has an estimated date).
A number of rides in Xanerth were also badly damaged - these will be fixed before the area opens, which will still consist of the original lineup.
Thank you for your patience throughout the closure - we are hoping to be able to confirm a reopening date soon! Alton Towers PE is on track to be able to reopen on the 21st.
Update 17/11/20:
Repairs are now well underway on the hotel & entrance plaza, with the designs being preserved as close as possible to their original forms. We have also upgraded the server security, in order to prevent this from happening ever again. Based on the current repair progress, and the work left to do around the park, we can now announce that we will be reopening Fantasy Islands on Thursday the 19th November, with shortened opening hours on the 19th-21st as we trial our new systems. Full details on the new opening hours for Fantasy Islands can be found here.
For the time being, both Rampage and Gold Rush will not be available as we repair damage to their ride systems, and Xanerth's opening on the 21st November will be delayed (we will be announcing a new opening date once we make significant progress on repairs throughout the area).
Alton Towers PE will remain closed until the 21st - opening hours for the park can be found here.
